A Quick Study

spring by Landie Holgate 2015

I took a little stroll today beside the pond amid the trees
The birds, they whistled ceaselessly in unknown tongue, “It’s spring, it’s spring!”
I know not how I understood; ‘twas other-worldly where I stood,
and filled with wondrous beauty that made me want to sing.

The water bugs, they chirped aloud in unknown tongue, “It’s spring, it’s spring!”
An orchestra surrounded me, beside the pond amid the trees
I know not how I understood; ‘twas other-worldly where I stood,
and rapt with joy resplendent upon refreshing breeze.

The ducks, they floated peacefully upon the pond amid the trees
But now and then they flapped their wings, as if to shout, “It’s spring, it’s spring!”
I know not how I understood; ‘twas other-worldly where I stood
The design of God reminding me all this was here His love to bring, His love to bring.
